10 minutes with…Karina Sudenyte - Get Wonky

Karina is co-founder of Get Wonky; a natural juice business which aims to tackle the growing problem of waste and inefficiency in food and drink production. The Cardiff-based start up produce a variety of juices that are exclusively made from hand-picked fruit, regardless of its ‘wonky’ shape or size.

Karina is undertaking her final year at the University of South Wales and won a Shell LiveWIRE Smarter Future Award for her business in January 2017.

What gets you out of bed on a Monday morning?

Lovely scent of breakfast and desire to achieve more gets me out of bed instantly.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

Being where I am now with the business progress is my greatest achievement. Only 4 words can describe my business venture journey so far: hard work, optimism and determination.

Tea or Coffee?

Earl grey tea.

What is the one thing you would tell your 16 year old self?

To be the greatest and the best, it is important to believe in yourself. Nobody will believe in you as much as you do!

How do you like to spend your spare time?

A good dinner makes me smile. I love cooking not only for myself but also for my fiancée. We both are passionate about new and unique cuisine. Often, during spare time we explore the world and try to fulfil our food cravings.

What is your favourite thing about running your own business?

Running your own business  is empowering. Working for yourself and your own goals it’s the ultimate dream.

What’s one quality you think an entrepreneur needs to possess?

Confidence is key to success. Therefore a real entrepreneur must first believe that they can, in order to succeed.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

A lot of my inspiration comes from meeting people, from visiting places, from just travelling and networking with people.

What are your Top Tips for a winning business pitch?

Being quirky, sincere, confident, passionate, be natural - show that you love what you do.
